Ceballos passes his medical and signs with Real Madrid
Real Madrid - Al Ain live online: Club World Cup final 2018
Dani Ceballos signed the contract that will keep him at Real Madrid for the next six seasons on Monday. An agreement between the selling and buying clubs is yet to be found, however, before the deal becomes official. The midfielder made a speedy visit to Madrid to sign the deal and pass his medical but the club opted to stay away from the usual hospital they do their tests in to avoid media attention. Betis were made aware of the plan and gave the go-ahead despite the lack of agreement between the clubs.
The midfielder from Utrera landed on a private flight chartered by Madrid on Sunday night and the same plane brought him back to Jerez as Monday morning drew to a close (the reason why he uploaded a photo of his drive from the airport in Conil, on his way home from the airport in the afternoon).
It is how Real Madrid plan on paying that is holding up the deal. The league champions want to do it in instalments but Betis demand just one. The president of the Andalusian club, Angel Haro, says "it is only a matter of time as there is an agreement between the player and the club" and Los Blancos look set to pay the €15 million in Ceballos' contract to release him from his contract.
Presentation on July 20th
The Spanish sensation and winner of the MVP award at the Under-21 Euros in Poland will be presented on July 20th provided everything goes to schedule. Much like with Theo Hernandez, Real Madrid have agreed a deal in private and carried out a medical exam before concluding the smaller details and presenting the player. Ceballos can travel to the United States with his Under-21 teammates with his future resolved and the shackles of speculation loosened.
