Ángel Correa is reportedly on Liverpool's radar - at least according to claims in France which say the Reds are willing to offer the Argentine forward a five-year contract and a 2.7 million euro salary. However, Liverpool's alleged offer for the player, 28 million euros is less than half of his buy-out.

Correa is not for sale, say Atlético

Apart from the retention fee, Atlético are not prepared to let Correa leave under any terms. The Rojiblancos are bound by the FIFA transfer ban, which doesn't impede them from selling players, but they cannot register new players until January next year. And besides, the player met with Atleti's technical staff not so long ago to discuss his future and was told that he will not be allowed to leave and is expected to play an important role for the side this season. Correa joined Atlético in 2014 and is under contract until 2019. He ended last season toying with the idea of looking for another club where he would gain regular playing time with Boca Juniors and Real Sociedad both expressing an interest in bringing him on board.

Possible January exit

Once the FIFA transfer ban is lifted, Correa could possibly leave during the January transfer window. Atleti hope to reinforce the squad in the winter window with the team's attack one area needing to be strengthened. At the moment, Correa is fully immersed in the pre-season with the first team squad in Los Ángeles de San Rafael.
