Cédric Bakambu renews with Villarreal until 2022
The Congolese centre-forward agrees new terms with the Submarine, adding an extra two years onto his previous contract with the club.
Villarreal continue with their process of renewing the contracts of first team squad players - the latest of whom to agree new terms is Cédric Bakambu, who adds two years onto his previous arrangement with the club, taking him to June 2022. The centre-forward had been under contract until 2020. Villarreal vice-president José Manuel Llaneza will join Bakambu in a press conference at the club's Miralcamp training ground at midday tomorrow.
Bakambu renews in wake of offers from England
Villarreal have received numerous offers for Bakambu during the transfer window - including one from West Ham, and have moved to keep him at the club at all costs. The club's technical department have decided to maintain the backbone of last season's side, which ended the league campaign in fifth place, qualifying for the Europa League - their fourth consecutive season in Europe.
