Barcelona Twitter account hacked and announces Di María signing
Sevilla - Barcelona: Copa del Rey quarter-final
In the early hours of Wednesday morning, around 04:00 Spanish time, the official Twitter and Facebook accounts of FC Barcelona were hacked and the announcement then was posted to the world that the club had signed PSG's Argentinian player, Ángel di Maria.
Barça's Di Maria post a hoax
Shortly after this was posted another message appeared confirming that indeed it was not the club speaking on the account:
“Hi FC Barcelona. It's OurMine (Security Group), please contact [...] and sorry for the hoax," followed by a laughing emoticon.
And the group were not finished there as they issued a call to action to get the incident trending.
FC Barcelona confirm hack
The club confirmed what had happened at around 05:00 CEST and the problem appeared to have been reesolved a little after that time with the club deleting the fake posts. Not before some screen grabs had been captured though.
