Diego Costa: Atlético and Chelsea move close to a deal
Various reports in the English media state that the saga is close to reaching a resolution as the player trains alone in his native Brazil.
Diego Costa is drawing closer to his return to Atlético Madrid, according to various reports in the English media.
Costa moves closer to Atlético
With Chelsea keen to secure the signing of versatile Arsenal man Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Diego Costa's sale would represent a useful source of income for the west-London club. The Mirror suggests that the fee will be around €34m, while The Telegraph states that it could be as high as €45m plus significant add-ons.
Since Costa's relationship with Chelsea manager Antonio Conte broke down at the start of 2017, the Spain international has been pining for a return to Atlético, where he excelled between 2010 and 2014.
Loan spell unlikely
Given that Costa would be unable to play for Atleti until January, various clubs have shown an interest in taking the striker on loan until the turn of the year. Everton are the most recent. Yet Costa wants an immediate move to 'El Cholo' Simeone's squad, with a view to returning to the Spanish national team ahead of the World Cup in Russia next year.
