Klopp: "We have the situation we wanted with Coutinho"

In the German press, the manager said that Liverpool never had any intention to sell and that "we have a very good player in our squad, who can play".

Barcelona tried until the last minute to sign Liverpool's Phillippe Coutinho until they were forced to accept that it was an impossible mission. Liverpool rejected offers of up to €150 million to ensure that the Brazilian remains a 'red' for at least one more season. Despite the fact that Barcelona said that Liverpool requested €200 million on transfer deadline day in order to get a deal done, Liverpool say they never had any intention of selling the player.

Jurgen Klopp, the manager of the Merseyside club, said Liverpool got the result they always wanted, "Don't believe everything in the press or that there are offers coming in here and there," he said. "The minute after the offer came in, it is done and you have to do the deal. We are not like George Orwell, where the whole world knows everything immediately. We have the situation that we wanted and nothing else," he told Germany's Sport1.

However, Klopp gave his opinion regarding the comparison of Dembele's signature and the non-departure of Coutinho, "We have our situation and Dortmund have another. Dortmund decided that the player could leave, and because of that, I can't compare the situations," he said. "We have a very good player in our squad that can play," he continued.

Coutinho's return to the fold could come as soon as next weekend after a mythical "back injury" that held him out of Liverpoo's opening Premier League fixtures disappeared for him to play, and score, for Brazil during the international break.
