Alvaro Morata said he is very happy at Chelsea and expressed his desire to possibly stay at the club beyond the five years stated in his contract in the build-up to Chelsea's game against Roma in the Champions League.

An interview with the Italian media had caused some controversy hours before the press conference, in which Morata said the city of London can be stressful, but Morata assured Chelsea fans that he is very happy at the club.

"I want to say that there was a misunderstanding in translation. If Chelsea offered me a contract for ten years, maybe I would have signed it. I am very happy at the club. I like London a lot and if I do well, I can be here beyond the five years on my contract," he said.

"But I have to score a lot, if I don't then Chelsea could be looking for another striker," he added.

The former Real Madrid player explained that when he finishes his career, he plans on returning to Spain, but he doesn't see anything in his future other than Chelsea.

"I like Chelsea and in the future, I don't know. Probably, when I finish my career, I will return to my country as it's normal to return to where I was born. London is an incredible city, with many religions, people and I really like it," he said.
