Sergio Ramos, behind the mask

Real Madrid's captain uploaded a series of images on his social media accounts of himself wearing the protective mask he will wear for the next few games.

Sergio Ramos has been given a mask to protect his face during the next few games while his fractured nose heals. The Real Madrid captain, who trained without the mask yesterday, uploaded a series of images of himself sporting the protective mask on his social media accounts. "Work hard, dream big", the central defender added in a caption, echoing the slogan embossed on the side of his new mask.

Ramos injured in the Madrid derby

Ramos fractured his nose after receiving a kick to the face from Atlético de Madrid's Lucas in minute 35 of last weekend's Madrid derby at the Wanda Metropolitano. He will sit out tomorrow's league game against Málaga and Tuesday's Copa del Rey return leg against Fuenlabrada. His objective is to make his return in the away game at Athletic Club on 2 December. While the captain recovers and with Nacho suspened, Varane and Vallejo will form the central defensive pair at the Bernabéu tomorrow - it will be the first time the two defenders have played together in the back four.
