The pots for Champions League last 16, first and second leg dates

There are 16 teams left in the Champions League, half the number that started, with Atlético Madrid, Napoli and Borussia Dortmund the three biggest casualties of the group stages. Of the four Spanish sides to have entered the tournament at the start of the year just Atlético have been eliminated as Barcelona, Real Madrid and Sevilla march on. All five of the Premier League sides that started out will be in the last 16 and four of them finished top of their group.

The regulars in the last 16 such as Bayern Munich, Juventus and PSG passed their respective tests and Basel, Roma, Shakhtar Donetsk, Besiktas and Porto all continue on into the next round too. In total, by country, England have five representatives still alive, Spain with three, Italy with two and one each from Germany, Portugal, turkey, Ukraine, Switzerland and France.

The draw that will take place on Monday (and that we will cover live here at AS English) starts at 12:00 in Nyon, Switzerland. The last 16 games will be played on the 13th, 14th, 20th and 21st of February and the second legs will be played on the 6th, 7th, 13th and 14th of March.

Qualified as group leaders: Manchester United, PSG, Roma, Barcelona, Liverpool, Manchester City, Besiktas, Tottenham.

Qualified as runners-up: Basil, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Juventus, Sevilla, Shakhtar Donetsk, Porto, Real Madrid.

Just a reminder that you can not play opponents from the same country in the last 16 or teams you have played in the group stages. The leaders of the groups have an advantage as they will play the return leg at home. the case of Chelsea is curious as they can only possibly face three teams in the next round in PSG, Besiktas or Barcelona.
