Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo and Zidane, the best of 2017
Cristiano Ronaldo won Globe Soccer's best player of 2017, Zidane won the best coach and Real Madrid won the best club after their historic year of five titles.
Cristiano Ronaldo won Globe Soccer's Best Footballer of 2017 on Wednesday in Dubai. The Portuguese, was not on hand to receive the award personally, was one of the many winners at the award ceremony in the Madinat Jimeirah complex. It is the fifth time the Real Madrid star has been awarded the prize and the second consecutive victory.
The jury selected to pick the winner placed significant importance on Ronaldo's role in Real Madrid winning five titles during the year. The latest award to be added to his cabinet comes hours after the player organised his own gala in Madrid to share with his family and friends his most successful year as a professional footballer.
Zidane also received an award from Globe Soccer as the best manager, the first in his career. He was nominated for an award last year but Fernando Santos, the Portuguese manager, won it for his contribution to Portugal winning the Euros in France. This time around, however, Zidane beat out all competition having claimed five titles during the year.
The Real Madrid manager beat Mourinho, Conte and Allegri to the prize. The Zizou spoke when he received the award, and said, "Many thanks for this award. I have to give thanks to the president, because Real Madrid have given me the opportunity to train this team, this incredible team. I want to congratulate and thank all of my players. because without them this season and this award would not be possible. And also, I would like to thank all of the managers, because I have had many managers, like Marcelo Lippi and Fabio Capello, many coaches I see here. It is a very difficult profession, I just started and I have won many things and I reiterate that it is a complicated job. I think about all of the managers, absolutely all of them, those who have won and those who have not, and those who have won this trophy, because it is difficult. Lastly, one thing that I want to say that is very important, is to dedicate this to all the mothers in the world."
Real Madrid won the best club of 2017. Los Blancos have lived through their best year in their 115-year history with the five titles they collected over the last 12 months.
