Betis thwarted in Ceballos loan move but keen on Achraf
Spanish Football Federation rules prevent the former Betis midfielder from returning to Seville but Verdiblancos have asked about the Morocco international.
Real Betis made an inquiry before the winter break about the possibility of taking Dani Ceballos back on loan for the remainder of the season due to his lack of opportunities at the Bernabéu but have now been made aware that Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) rules preclude a return for their former midfielder.
Article 126.5 of the RFEF’s regulations states that: “Players whose licence has been cancelled [with their previous club] cannot, during the course of the same season, obtain a licence with the same club they were previously associated with.”
Betis ask about Achraf's availability
Even if a loan move for Ceballos was likely to be met with short shrift from Real Madrid, the applicable rule now means there is no scope for the midfielder to represent his former club during the 2017-18 season. However, Betis have not limited their options solely to Ceballos and have also inquired about the possibility of taking Achraf Hakimi on loan. The 19-year-old full back was close to a switch to Alavés last summer but Zinedine Zidane blocked the move after the departure of Danilo to Manchester City.
Achraf has been one of the more-employed back-up players under Zidane this season, featuring in 11 games and chalking up 872 minutes for the first team, scoring in the league in the 5-0 rout of Sevilla.
