Simeone: "Diego Costa will play against Valencia"
The Atleti coach also discussed the similarities between his side and Marcelino's: "We both have a clear idea of what we want from our teams," he said.
Diego Simeone spoke to the press as Atlético Madrid host Valencia on Sunday evening (20:45, CET) in the battle for the top four places continues.
What's the situation with Diego Costa?
He'll play from the outset against Valencia. He's in good shape.
Do you see any similarities between Valencia and your side?
As a team, Valencia are very similar to us and they're having a very good season. I said at the beginning of the campaign that they would be up there fighting for honours. They've got good players, are performing well, and have a coach that knows the systems to play. Although there are some differences, we're similar, yes, because we both have a clear idea of what we want from our teams.
Zidane said the title race isn't over. What's your take?
I didn't read or hear that. My mind is on Valencia, on focusing from Sunday to Sunday on improving our points tally in La Liga and making sure my team improves.
Is your side more comfortable attacking or playing on the counter?
Against Las Palmas we had chances from the start but in the second half we were more decisive. I think it's more about being decisive than attacking more. There are matches when you spend the whole of the first half on the front foot but don't score, and others when you attack less but are more decisive. There aren't really scenarios when you can say you're more comfortable.
