The self-indulgence of having your operation in Brazil

In the end PSG player Neymar will have surgery. The player decided not to wait the moderate amount of time required to see how the injury would evolve, and also rejected conservative treatment, which would have seen him off the playing field for roughly an equivalent length of time, but without the certainty that the break would be fixed so successfully as with the surgery. Going under the knife effectively guarantees the fastest possible return to action, and the possibility of being in top form for the World Cup, as well, with a bit of luck, of being available for the end of PSG's season.

Neymar's operation 

The surgical intervention consists of the insertion of an osteosynthesis screw to fix the fracture. The bone will then take between four and six weeks to heal, and subsequently Neymar will increase his physical workload such a way that he should be ready, after after around eight to twelve weeks, be playing in competitive matches at 100%.

Neymar opts for Brazil

Neymar has decided to have the operation in his country of origin and it's interesting to see that players playing in every country have their indulgent demands, not just foreign players in LaLiga. France is a leading country in the treatment of sports injuries yet Neymar's decision means he has to take a lengthy flight to Brazil - it's not the first time we've seen this kind of decision from top level players...
