Koke: "Isco's the best; he'd play regularly at Atlético..."
The Spain midfielder was full of praise for his international teammate and cheekily suggested he move across town to get more pitch time.
Spain and Atlético Madrid midfielder Koke took part in a promotional event on Wednesday and spoke about the national team ahead of the World Cup and his teammates Diego Costa and Antoine Griezmann, while also inviting Isco to move across the Spanish capital.
Spain friendlies: “We played two very good games against the 2014 World Cup winners and the runners-up, but they were only friendlies. In two months we’ll see where we are when the World Cup starts.”
Thin squad at Atlético: “It’s never nice when people are injured but I’m sure good players will come up from the reserves and do a good job. We have a small squad but one with a lot of quality.”
Koke: "There is no doubting Costa's commitment to Spain"
Importance of youth players: “In my case it was very important for me to have grown up here, it helped me a lot, maybe for Griezmann and others who have joined Atlético later in their careers it’s not the same, I don’t know. To me he looks committed, as we all are. Whoever hasn’t wanted to be here in the past has asked to leave and left.”
Costa commitment to Spain: “There are absolutely no doubts there. Diego wanted to play for Spain, he has given it everything and he will continue to do so. There’s no reason to doubt him.”
Spain’s number nine in Russia: “That’s a question for the manager. I have my preferences but I’ll keep them to myself.”
Isco: "As far as I'm concerned he's the best"
Simeone after the 6-1: “I don’t know if we’ll take the piss out of him for it… I wanted to win the game so that he wouldn’t be able to do it to me.”
Isco: “As far as I’m concerned when he plays with us for Spain he’s the best. His level is spectacular. I don’t see him day-to-day at his club obviously and I don’t know what Zidane is thinking, but I love Isco. If he’s not playing regularly there, maybe he would do at Atleti…”
Objectives with Atlético: “We know the league is a difficult target. Barça have to lose four games and they haven’t lost once yet. We have to get as many points as possible, keep them in sight and if we can’t win it, to finish as runners-up. Then there’s the Europa League. We didn’t play well in the Champions League and we want to win that competition to repay our fans.”
