Messi doubtful for Saturday's game against Sevilla
Barcelona are expected to issue a medical report later today. Messi only completed part of today's session and Valverde could rest him for the Roma game.
Leo Messi completed just a part of this morning's training session at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. The player didn't feature at all in Argentina's recent international friendlies, and today's session was a chance to see is he was feeling any better. Messi remains a doubt for Saturday's away game at Sevilla - bearing in mind that Barça host Roma in the first leg of their Champions League quarter final on Wednesday. Messi hasn't played since Barcelona's last outing, against Athletic Club, with sharp pains to his right adductor.
Valverde is keen to make sure that the mood within the squad remains relaxed and the club's media department uploaded a handful of photos showing Messi taking part in today's workout. But the coach specified that the player should only be involved in part of the session and they will take another look at him in tomorrow's evening session. Between today and tomorrow it will be decided whether Messi will make the trip down to Sevilla with the squad.
Barcelona could issue a medical report to give an update on Messi at some point today although it seems more likely that will be reserved for when Valverde releases his squad for the Sevilla game.
