Míchel Salgado returns to football to play in Panama league

Former Real Madrid player, Míchel Salgado, will return to Panama where he will line out for Club Atlético Independiente in the Panama Football League, according to the club's vice-president, Roberto Arroyo.

"Michel arrives today (Tuesday) and he will join up with the team possibly tomorrow (Wednesday) to prepare for the game on Saturday," Arroyo said.

His schedule is packed, the vice-president admits, as he has to "prepare for Saturday, along with seeing the club facilities, getting to know the country and doing a press conference amongst other things," he said.

Salgado, 42, will play against Plaza Amador and his goal, along with playing with the team, is to help local football according to Arroyo. He will try to get the side into the semi-final at the Maracana in the country's capital with a win at the weekend.

"Salgado's presence in Panama is to contribute something to the football here. The team can qualify for the semifinals and to do it with Michel Salgado playing would add an interesting ingredient to the qualification," he said.

The former Real Madrid player will not be doing it for economic reasons and will stay until the 29th of April.
