Caparrós apologises to Betis fans for rude gestures: "I was wrong to do that, I'm sorry"

The Sevilla coach admitted he hot a bit carried away during the derby: "Rivalry should not be taken to such extremes".

Sevilla coach Joaquín Caparrós has publicly apologised to Betis fans for his behaviour during the derby at the weekend. Caparrós posted a message on Twitter to say sorry for the gestures he made towards some home fans as the Sevilla coach left the Villamarín stadium following the 2-2 draw.

"I would like to apologise to the Real Betis fans to whom I made an and ugly unfortunate gesture and the comment I directed at them. Rivalry between the Seville clubs should always be understood through fraternity and humour and should never be taken to such extremes. I got carried away and I was wrong to do what I did. Congratulations to Betis for the great season you've had", Caparrós wrote on Twitter.

The 62-year-old Utrerano has a history of winding up Betis fans - including the time when he sat in the home dug-out at the Villamarín. This time though, he realized he went a little too far and said he was sorry.
