New vicepresident of the Federación Española de Fútbol, Andre Subies, has confirmed that Barcelona and Seville could postpone their opening fixtures of La Liga 2018-19 to play the two legs of Sopercopa de España, which could be set for the August 12 and 19, if Seville gives the green light.

An August 5 encounter is impossible for Barcelona, as they will be finish their tour of the US on August 4, and both teams will want to have all of their internationals fit and available for selection.

"The dates aren't clear. It's difficult because La Liga it is difficult to delay the start of La Liga and Barca returns on the 4th from the United States. As soon as possible, between the return of Barca and the start of La Liga, the dates will have to be proposed and, if there are no other alternatives, it will be necessary (for the teams to postpone their first LaLiga Santander game 2018-19)," said Subies in an interview on Spanish radio.
