Arsenal ramp up their plans to swoop for Steven N'Zonzi
"We've not received any offers for him", Director of Sport Joaquín Caparrós insists. Sevilla are waiting until the World Cup ends to deal with the midfielder's situation.
Steven N’Zonzi is busy focusing on France's World Cup campaign in Russia. But in Spain, Sevilla are hoping that the player's situation will take a radical change to ensure he remains with Pablo Machín's side next season. That will not be easy - N'Zonzi has his heart set on moving on this summer so a conflict of interests is in store after the World Cup reaches its conclusion in a week's time. Sky Sports claim that Arsenal have already made contact with the midfielder, with a view to bringing him to London for the start of the new Premier League campaign.
No enquiries for N'Zonzi, say Sevilla
"We're going to let him finish the World Cup. Besides, we haven't received any offers for him, so we can't really talk about something which doesn't exist", Director of Sport Joaquín Caparrós said yesterday. Caparrós and his technical team know that N’Zonzi's market value is sure to increase with every good performance he puts in in Russia. He came on for the last quarter hour in yesterday's quarter final against Uruguay, as France booked their place in the last four.
Unai Emery's Arsenal are the club who have shown the most interest in N'Zonzi as of the moment. The Basque coach knows that the player will be able to quickly adapt to his new project and he is willing to help him get his wish to move on. For now, Sevilla will hope his buy-out fee will be enough to ward off potential suitors - even if there are no formal offers on the table.
