Sergio Ramos has scored in each of his 15 seasons in LaLiga
The Madrid captain dinked in a cheeky Panenka-style penalty on 39 minutes against Girona. He is the only defender to have scored 15 seasons running in LaLiga.
Sergio Ramos made history by resetting his own LaLiga goal-scoring record this evening. The Real Madrid captain dinked in a cheeky penalty, Panenka-style, to cancel out Borja García's opener in Girona. He is the only defender to have scored in 15 seasons running in LaLiga.
Ramos, another season on the scoresheet
Ramos opened his league account as a fresh-faced 18-year-old with a direct free-kick for Sevilla against Real Sociedad in September 2004. He continued the trend after joining Real Madrid with his first top flight goal for his new employers away at Málaga in December 2005. He has scored in every season since then and holds the the record for defenders to have scored in successive seasons in Spain's top division.
Gaínza's 60-year-old record
He's still a few seasons off the all-time league record for all outfield players - that is held by Piru Gaínza, who scored in 19 consecutive seasons for Athletic Club between 1940 and 1959 - a record that may never be equalled or broken.
