PSG: Marco Verratti arrested for drink-driving
L'Équipe reports that the PSG and Italy midfielder was arrested on Tuesday night after recording a blood-alcohol level of over twice the legal limit.
PSG and Italy midfielder Marco Verratti was arrested last Tuesday night after testing positive for excess alcohol in his blood during a test conducted by traffic police.
L’Équipe reported that Verratti was pulled over and registered 0.49 mg/l during a breathalyser test, over twice the permitted legal limit in France of 0.20 mg/l.
Verratti fined and facing driving ban
The 25-year-old was detained and later released and will learn his fate at a later date, with a lengthy driving ban on the cards. Verratti was also fined by PSG, who released a statement on the club’s official website on Friday.
“Under the rules applicable to the contracts of all our players, Marco Verratti will be deprived of a portion of his monthly ethics bonus, which obliges all PSG players to exercise exemplary behaviour under all circumstances with regard to the statutes of the club.
