REAL MADRID

No Madrid player amongst first 232 in fight for Golden Shoe

As it stands, Real Madrid have no player amongst the first 232, which is clear evidence of the gaping hole left by Cristiano Ronaldo.

The large void left at Real Madrid by Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure is perhaps most evident in rankings for the European Golden Shoe award, which is currently led by Brazilian Liliu of Estonian club Nomme Kalju with 30 points.

The Portuguese regularly fought for the accolade while at Real Madrid and is a contender again this year with Juventus. But this season, Real Madrid currently have no player among the top 232 players in the rankings.

This year there is no outstanding player from the big leagues; Kylian Mbappe leads that ranking so far with 12 goals. But the reality is that there is no player at Madrid that is anywhere near reaching those 12 goals (Ronaldo currently has 10 in Serie A with Juventus).

Karim Benzema is currently Los Blancos top scorer in the LaLiga with five goals. That means the French striker is tied in 233rd position with 10 points with several other players (all those above that have 10.5 points or more).

Perhaps even more worrying is the fact that Madrid’s next highest ranked player is a defender – Sergio Ramos with four goals (or eight points), which is clear evidence of the problems Madrid’s attacking players are having in front of goal this season.
