Paul Pogba's brother Florentin on trial with Spanish club Elche
Florentin Pogba is currently without a club and began a one-week trial with Spanish second division club Elche on Monday.
Florentin Pogba, brother of France and Manchester United star Paul Pogba, joined up with Spanish second division side Elche for training on Monday, and will be on trial for the rest of the week, after which the club will decide if they want to sign him before the close of the January transfer window.
The 28-year-old plays international football with the Republic of Guinea and has experience in the top two divisions in France with CS Sedan and St. Etienne, as well as in European competition and Turkey’s Superliga. He is currently without a club after his contract with Genclerbirligi Ankara, currently in the Turkish second division, ended last June.
If Elche decide to sign him, Pogba would cover the absence of Colombia central defender Neyder Lozano, who suffered a serious muscle injury in the game against Tenerife last Friday, which could see him side-lined for several months. It would become Pogba’s second stint in Spain. The French-Guinean started his career in Spain as a teenager with Celta Vigo B before moving to CS Sedan in 2009.
The central defender would become Elche’s fourth signing in the January transfer window after winger Nacho Gil, central midfielder Dani Calvo and goalkeeper Edgar Badía.
