Matthijs de Ligt, the highly-rated Ajax centre half, is being chased by many of Europe's elite clubs, many of whom are looking to strengthen their defences ahead of the business end of the season. However, the young Dutchman has made it clear that, for now at least, he will be remaining with the Amsterdam outfit.
De Ligt delights Ajax fans
Speaking with NOS television during the club's winter break in Florida, the the 19-year old said.
"I'm not afraid of leaving Ajax but I do not want to leave in this transfer window. We have titles to win and we all have to stay for the club to be successful."
The main pursuers of the defender are Barcelona, PSG, Bayern Munich and Juventus, and despite the player's tender years he has already racked up 91 matches with the first team, both in the domestic league and cup as well as in the Champions League. He has also collected 13 caps with the much-improved Dutch national team.
