Real Madrid: Isco to ask for move if Solari stays on as coach
Isco doesn't want to leave Real Madrid, but will nevertheless seek a transfer if Santiago Solari continues as coach after this season.
Isco doesn't want to leave Real Madrid. Despite the interest of the likes of Manchester City, Inter Milan, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, the midfielder is eager to remain at the Santiago Bernabéu beyond the summer. However, this comes on one condition: that Santiago Solari doesn't stay on as coach.
If Solari is kept on by Madrid after this season, Isco will ask for a transfer.
Isco-Solari relationship untenable beyond summer
Isco is preparing to become a father for the second time and does not want to uproot his family from the Spanish capital, but his poor relationship with Solari, coupled with the fringe role that he has had to settle for under the Argentine (who has given the 26-year-old just 491 minutes of first-team action since taking over) means that the player's future is dependent on that of his boss. It's one or the other.
Whether Isco stays or goes may well also be influenced by Madrid's overall summer transfer strategy, meanwhile. With the Spain international viewed by the club as being among the assets with the highest market value in the squad, he could also prove a key source of funds for the close-season overhaul that the team needs.
Man City the favourites to sign Isco if he leaves
City manager Pep Guardiola is a huge admirer of the ex-Málaga man, and the Premier League champions appear to be best placed to snap him up were he to depart. Reports in the UK say the Manchester club would be ready to bid 86m euros, although Madrid would not be expected to sell for anything less than 100m.
