REAL MADRID
Dinner between Solari and Pérez in Madrid may have been warning
According to Chiringuito, Pérez and Solari met in a restaurant in Madrid after their loss to Girona at the weekend, and it might have been a warning.
On Wednesday night on El Chiringuito de Jugones de Mega, they reported that Florentino Perez and Santiago Solari met in a restaurant in the capital of Spain to discuss the current state of Real Madrid.
"There was a dinner that started at nine," they said. "It finished at around 23:10 at night. Two hours and ten minutes of face-to-face discussion between Florentino Perez and Santiago Solari after Real Madrid's loss to Girona at the weekend."
That defeat to Girona seems to have been the reason for the meeting because the club are in a situation where they can not slip again. In the league, they are third with 45 points, two away from Atlético and nine from Barcelona, the leader. They will welcome Barcelona for the second leg of the Copa del Rey next Wednesday and a loss would be a huge blow to the squad.
They do hold an advantage over Ajax in the last 16 of the Champions League after winning in Amsterdam (1-2). But if they slip again in the league and lose to Barca in the Copa, they will have handed the title to their eternal rivals and exited the Copa, which would leave the Argentine on very thin ice. Perhaps, that was what Perez warned the manager on Wednesday night over dinner.
