Manchester United defender Chris Smalling had appeared to have caught some attention as social media users rushed to believe that he claimed to know Lionel Messi's weakness.

The Champions League quarter-final clash between FC Barcelona and Man Utd is not far away and the Spanish side's talisman is seen as a key figure in the tie. But despite being underdogs, the Red Devil centre half, commenting on Sportbible's Facebook page, had assured fans that he knew the Argentine's achilles heel.
"There is a weakness in Messi that only I know about. I don't think the world is aware of that, so I'm not going to talk about it now," he teased as wry smiles appeared everywhere.
Unsurprisingly, a quick investigation of the facts surrounding the rumour showed that it was not indeed the United professional. Be careful out there, fake news is everywhere.
