Cristiano Ronaldo had to withdraw early from Portugal’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Serbia in Lisbon, after picking up what appeared to be a hamstring injury just before the thirty-minute mark.

The Juve star was chasing a ball down the left flank before he had to pull up, limp off and take to the ground. With a bloodied cotton bud in his left nostril from an earlier incident, Ronaldo quickly signalled to the bench to say he could not continue.

The Portugal captain was replaced by Benfica midfielder Pizzi, with the score at 1-0 to visitors Serbia. Porto midfielder Danilo drew the home side level soon with four minutes to half time. But the hosts were unable to find a winner as the game finished 1-1, leaving the European Champions with a disappointing two draws from their two opening two Euro 2020 qualifiers.

At this moment, there has been no official confirmantion as to the seriousness of Ronaldo’s injury. However, AS' own medical analyst, Dr. González, has said: "from looking at the way he has been injured, it will be difficult for him to reach the first leg of the Champions' League quarterfinals."

The Serbia game was Ronaldo’s second after he had taken a break from international duty following Portugal’s exit form the World Cup at the last 16 stage at the hands of Uruguay, with the first being the 0-0 draw against Ukraine last Friday.
