MLS goal ruled out by VAR... after ref appears to foul player
In what is surely a first, a breakaway Columbus goal was cancelled out by VAR after the referee got into a tangle and had to check whether he'd infringed.
Update:
A bizarre moment during the MLS match between DC United and Columbus Crew saw the match referee checking VAR after a goal to see if he had in fact commited a foul during the build-up.
Pedro Santos thought he had put Columbus ahead but a tangle in midfield saw the referee appear to collide with a DC United player when the vicitors broke towards goal.
After a review, the goal was ruled out and the foul eventually attributed to Columbus' Wil Trapp.
