Atlanta United striker, Josef Martínez didn't have the positive start to the season that everyone expected, as the reigning MLS MVP from the 2018 season took his time to find form. However, since he returned to his scoring ways, Martínez has been closing the gap to Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Carlos Vela.

Martínez scored four goals across the two matches Atlanta United had during week 14, first against Minnesota United and then Chicago Fire on Saturday at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

His performance earned him Player of the Week, impressing with a pair of counter-attacking goals in the 3-0 win over the Loons midweek and then another double in the win against Chicago Fire.

Martínez now has ten goals so far this season and is just one goal behind the LA Galaxy captain, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and six behind Los Angeles FC superstar Carlos Vela, who leads the scoring charts with 16.

Player of the Week

Each week an MLS Player of the Week is chosen by the media and a fan voting process conducted by MLS Communications, with 75% of the vote going to North American Soccer Reporters, while a Twitter fan vote represents the remaining 25%.
