Ronaldo hat-trick buries Switzerland as Portugal go into Nations League final
Into the last minute now.
7th career hat-trick with Portugal for Ronaldo.
Five minutes of added time. Just agony for Switzerland now. They were very good for long spells.
Drmic on for Fueler.
Akanji a little slow to react and he pays the price. Lovely finish from Ronaldo.
GOAL! Ronaldo slots it home. Ball down the right and it is cut back to the Portuguese. He buries it. What a finish that is.
Portugal dominating the ball now as we approach the end.
Guedes still limping after the earlier knock but he looks to be okay.
Ronaldo fouled as Portugal look to counter attack.
Guedes down grabbing his ankle.
Cross in and it bounces up to Zuber. He volleys it wide. No contact bt it's wide.
Guerreiro with a move into the box but Akanji does well to shield the ball and see it out for a goalkick.
They haven't really looked threatening though. Time and time again they move forward with no options in the box.
Guedes wins a free for Portugal deep in their own half though. They're the more promising side now.
Ronaldo moves into a dangerous position as he cuts in from the left but he has no options and everything slows down. They have no striker so it makes sense. Cross eventually comes in from Guerreiro but it's out over the goals and wide.
Zuber drives over from just outside the box. He knows he probably should have done better.
Felix off for Guedes. Not his best game, for sure.
Bakaria cross and it's head back into the middle. Free on Schar as he was said to have fouled a defender.
Sommer grabs a cross.
Yellow for Schar as he absolutely clatters into Felix. Takes him out of it.
Xhaka pulls Bernardo Silva back and concedes a free. Portugal with a bit more about them since that equaliser but still not really troubling Sommer.
Another header. Wide this time by Seferovic.
Fonte on for Pepe.
Pepe grabbing his shoulder and elbow as he walks off the field.
William Carvalho down holding his knee. Pepe down looking for treatment on his shoulder. Cleared off the line as Carvalho pulls down a Swiss player in the box.
Switzerland deserved that. Although, I'm not sure what it was for.
Rivardo Rodriguez to take.
Right, so he consults VAR and we have a penalty. Switzerland win it.
Felix Brych goes to the VAR screen. There is talk of a handball somewhere but I must admmit I didn't see it.
Ronaldo passes to Silva, who gets taken down. It's a Portugal penalty instead. VAR being brought into it here.
Switzerland appealing for a handball. Play continues as the referee consults with VAR. He is running down the field with his finger in his ear.
Bernardo Silva skips by a couple of challenges and passes it to Ronaldo. His left-footed effort is both ambitious and not very good. In equal measure.
Zakaria with a cross into Seferovic. It's an awkward, high cross and he heads it but there's zero power on it and Patricio grabs it.
Cross from Zuber and Pepe clears again with his head. Another corner.
We are back underway for the second half.
Still 1-0. Ronaldo broke the deadlock in the first half with a free.
Teams back in the tunnel before heading back onto the field.
Ronaldo clips one into Felix. He thinks he's pulled back as he kicks it into the air. Ref has a chat to VAR lads and they say no too.
Approaching half-time. Switzerland improving. Portugal could do with a break.
What an effort! Lovely move by Switzerland. Mbabu down the right with a first time cross. Seferovic pulls back and connects with the strike! That's off the post. So, so close. He has been a proper handful for Portugal.
Lovely little shimmy as Bernardo Silva frees himself down the left. Cross in is headed away with two Portugal attackers lurking behind.
Switzerland with a nice spell of possession now but Portugal nearly jump them. They recover and go in search of that equaliser. Headed away by Pepe, the latest cross.
Ronaldo with a little fake and then cross. Mbabu grabbed at his shorts. Switzerland counter and cross is blocked and then Freuler is caught offside. Good slide from Pepe to reject that cross.
Game has picked up again. Switzerland trying to pour it on but Portugal responding and countering themselves.
Drilled in and Fernandes again uses his head. Another corner.
Shaqiri tries to replicate Ronaldo. Free is headed out for another corner.
Mbabu makes his way into the box and goes down. Penalty? No, ref says no. It looked like one though. Freuler fouled outside the box now as they have to settle for a free.
A mistake by Portugal as Rui Patricio comes out and grabs the ball before letting it go. Shaqiri pounces but loses it and then Mbabu's cross is headed into touch for a corner. Good chance for the visitors.
Shaqiri with a lofted cross. Way too deep though as Semedo sees it off.
Switzerland back on the ball and looking to get themselves back into this one.
GOAL! Ronaldo scores the free-kick. Just like that! He has been anonymous so far but changes the game with one swipe of his right foot.
Mbaby whistled for a foul on Ronaldo. He went in high and over the ball. Dangerous position and I'm sure Ronaldo fancies this.
Fernandes in the wars again. He took an elbow to the side and is appealing to the man who did it to acknowledge his foul. Play continues.
Switzerland have been brighter but the game has been dull despite a couple of chances for the visitors.
Shaqiri with an ambitious effort. He is way downtown and launces it high and over.
Semedo puts it out for another throw as the Swiss continue to try that right hand side.
Patricio gets himself in trouble. Well a pass from the defender is what catches him out as he is forced to kick out for a throw.
Anothe header. Another Seferovic chance. He gets this one on target but it's right down Patricio's throat and he grabs it.
Zakaria races forward and gets a forunate bounce of the ball as it comes off his hand. The ref catches him and whistles for the free.
Lovely ball in behind for Semedo and he shows off his speed as he burns a defender. His cross isn't as smooth though as it's cleared.
Lovely ball into the box in search of Seferovic's dome. He gets a head to it and glances it wide.
Ronaldo slices wide. A poor mistake at the back gifts the ball to Portugal and it's played into his path. Poor effort and I think he knows it too.
Ilegally though as Semedo goes down under a challenge from Xhaka. He jumped in with two feet on the right-back. Pepe not happy and the referee has to calm things down.
The Swiss counter and Portugal win it back.
Mbabu ends up on the ground after Carvalho catches Xhaka on the head with a knee and then Fernandes launches into a challenge on the right-back. How was that not a red card?
Corner for Portugal. Whipped in, cleared and whipped in again. Carvalho with a foul on Zuber.
Portugal have taken control of this one now. They still haven't troubled Sommer but they're probing.
Portugal on the ball now as it's sent into the box by Neves. Fairly meagre effort though that's kicked away with ease.
Really good save from Patricio, who was off his line like a bolt of lightening and he saves with his foot. First bit of danger for Portugal to deal with and they don't.
Dangerous ball into the box as Rodriguez chases it down. Patricio out to clear.
Switzerland in possession but no proper attacks yet. Rodriguez gets it on the left and it's out to Zuber, who tries to take on his man.
We are underway!
A minute's silence for Lennart Johannson, the former UEFA president, who passed away today.
The team exchange pleasentries ahead of kick-off.
And now the Portuguese anthem.
The Swiss natural anthem rings around the stadium! A buoyant atmosphere here in Porto.
Teams are in the tunnel!
Felix is wanted by all of Europe. Real Madrid have had a bid turned down most recently because Benfica know they have an absolute gem on their hands.
Joao Felix starts for Portugal too. The future is now!
Shaqiri starts fresh off the Champions League victory. He has also been fairly clear about his future in recent days too. He knew there would be competition for places at Liverpool and wants to stay at the club.
