Spain and Portugal set to launch joint bid for 2030 World Cup

Both Spanish and Portuguese football federations have confirmed the joint bid with the backing of their respective governments.

Both the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and its Portuguese counterpart (FPF) have confirmed that they are set to launch a joint bid to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup. The forthcoming tournaments will be staged in Qatar (2022) and a three nation host for 2026 with games going ahead in Canada, Mexico and the USA. Both federations maintain to have secured the support of their respective governments to stage te competition.

Spain and Portugal launched a bid to host the 2018 competition with Russia eventually hosting last year's tournament. The decision surrounding the selection of host nations for the 2018 and 2022 tournaments was conducted in Zurich back in December 2010 with the process leading to FIFA Gate with subsequent investigations conducted due to the suspicious nature of the voting process.
