Napoli are still optimistic of securing the services of Colombian midfielder James Rodríguez, despite no breakthrough in their ongoing negotiations with Real Madrid. The Serie A club's sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is in the Spanish capital with the Italian side insisting in taking the player on loan with Real Madrid demanding a firm sale.

Real Madrid have placed a price tag of 42 million euro on the Colombian's signature and despite the player, Napoli coach Ancelotti and agent Jorge Mendes happy with the proposed terms, the Spanish side are standing firm and not budging in their position.

Atleti await

Atlético Madrid are the other interested party, watching on to see how the situation develops and are suggested to be prepared to pay the 42 million euro asking price. This is an alternative that Real Madrid are not prepared to consider as a first option preferring to see the Colombian move to Italy rather than to cross city rivals and direct LaLiga competitors.
