Spurs have to settle for a corner. Ball is crossed in and Vertonghen with the shot wide. He just caught it with a leg stuck out. There was an offside though.
Lamela goes down in the penalty area as he tries to round Marcelo. He looked to have been caught.

Free for Kroos now on the left. Lines it up to cross it in as Gazzaniga sorts out his wall. It's headed out and Hazard recovers as they look to get back into this one.
Benzema with an effort now after a counter from Real Madrid. He cuts inside on his left and blazes over.

Hazard moving down the right now. He plays inside and it's cut out as Spurs counter. Ball sent across from the right and Modric is the last man back. He does really well to cut it out and send it back to Navas.
Real Madrid have improved in the last couple of minutes. Still no chance but they're more active in midfield and looking to move forward. More possession of the ball as they try to draw Spurs out.
Rodrygo with the ball to Benzema in the area. He backheels looking for the through ball but Rose recovers it.
They're rejected down that path and Lamela clips one of the top to Eriksen. He wins a corner.
Rodrygo drives forward after Marcelo wins it back. He is pushed but no free as the ball was already played. Spurs win it back and attack with Son on the left.

Winks wins it back of Vazquez and Spurs continue their good start. Ball comes in from the left and Varane fails to clear. It takes a Madrid bounce though and lands in front of Keylor.

Ramos back to Keylor with Lamela pushing high on the defender. Marcelo gets it and he wins a throw.
Mistake at the back as Vertonghen lays it back to Gazzaniga. Benzema pounces but the keeper slides and gets it away. Dangerous from the Belgian defender at the back.

A very elaborate display on the field here. Not as many in the stands as they might like but a fairly big game, as preseasons go, nonetheless.
Regarding, Spurs starting XI:
Eriksen in for his first start since groin surgery. He remains linked with Real Madrid so this could be a big game for him.
Lloris is named on the bench after recovering from tonsillitis. Gazzaniga, the former Rayo keeper replaces him.
Wanyama is out with some issues with his knee suffered during training.
Real Madrid really can't afford any more injuries though so it will be interesting to see how they fair after a "demanding" season yesterday at Valdebebas.
Isco also loses out with Lucas Vazquez coming back in to add some more running down that right hand side.
We will get a look at Rodrygo up front today as well. Asensio is gone for the season and Brahim is injured. This is a great chance for the young Brazilian.
Zidane a little hamstrung with the absence of Jovic. He wanted to play a 4-4-2 with Jovic as the second striker but he got injured. He has to adjust a little bit but Rodrygo could be set to gain from that reshuffle.

Real Madrid have five injuries with Asensio out for the season, Brahim, Mendy, Jovic and Courtois out too. They have a lot of questions to answer too.
Meanwhile, James returned to training yesterday along with Casemiro and Militao but they didn't travel with the squad. Fede Valverde did, and he might be an option at the base of midfield. Bale, however, didn't travel as he was too distressed after Real Madrid pulled the plug of his China move.
They need that energetic and young midfielder and Paul Pogba remains link. They are poised to take a step towards signing him soon as the pressure mounts.
There has been some turmoil in recent days in Madrid with Bale's deal falling through and reports that James will stay at the club despite Zidane's wishes. Meanwhile, reports suggest Hazard showed up to preseason out of shape and hasn't improved in the last week or two.
