Liverpool stroll to victory over newly promoted Norwich

Goals from Van Dijk, Salah and Origi followed an early Norwich o.g and the injury to Brazilian keeper Alisson Becker was the only blotch for Jurgen Klopp as his side now focus on Wednesday's Uefa Super Cup.

Liverpool go the job done in the first 45' of the 2019-20 Premier League opener cruising to a 4-0 Anfield lead over newsly promoted Norwich City.

Difficult night for Norwich with a trip to the home of the current European champions always a tricky proposition. Defensive lapses and early wasted chances from  Stiepermann the key to the first half.

Into the final minute of normal time we go .....

Liverpool with thoughts very much on Istanbul and the Super Cup for the bulk of the second half with the 4-0 half time cushion enough for the Reds to ease off.

Firmino off with Milner his replacement.

The only negative for Liverpool tonight is the injury sustained by Alisson in the first half. 

The Senegalese striker was in action less than a month ago representing his country at the AFCON 21019 final.

Liverpool now taking their foot off the gas, possibly aware of the packed fixture list that awaits Klopp's men.

Trent Alexander-Arnold fires into the side netting but the ball takes a deflection and Liverpool win a corner. It's going to be a long, long 35' or so for The Canaries.

Salah probes again and Norwich defend desperately. It's a question of damage limitation for the Canaries now who will be anxious to get in for the break and regroup as best they can.   

Way, way, way too easy for Liverpool as Origi latches on to a perfect A-Arnold cross field delivery.

Adrian on-Alisson off

Not looking good for Alisson.... The Brazilian is being helped from the pitch and Klopp is forced to bring on Adrian. 

The Brazilian stopper appeared to slip after the last clearance and Spanish reserve keeper Adrian looks poised to make his Liverpool debut.   

Becker is on the surface and looks to be in trouble. Seems to have developed some muscular problem.

Pukki looks bright up front for the men in yellow, winning a corner for Norwich, forcing Van Dijk to clear his line   

Henderson now forces Krul to palm away ... Liverpool rampant at the moment. 

Clinical from Liverpool tonight converting three chances with Norwich wasteful in front of goal. 

Great half volley from Firmino and this time Krul does well in palming the effort away from danger.

Poor defending from Norwich...far too easy for the Dutch defender and question marks over Krul's keeping too.

It's been a frantic 26-27 minutes of action with Origi possibly the standout player to on the night.

This 2-0 scoreline is a tad harsh as Norwich are still playing with verve and endeavour.  

Buendia strikes but fails to get pace in his shot and it's easy for Alisson.

Still no intervention from VAR at Anfield.

Pukki breaks into the box and once again is thwarted. Flag was up though !  

Norwich now pressed into their own half with Liverpool pushing the ball around with poise and purpose.  

Fine work from Trent Alexander-Arnold in the build-up to the goal and the Egyptian was clinical after the ball broke into his path.

Despite the unfortunate start, Norwich are refusing to roll over and better finishing from Stiepermann and Pukki could have changed the complexion of the game.

Pukki breaks into the Liverpool box and just fails to latch onto the ball. The ball falls to the Finnish player again and this time he flashes the ball across the mouth of the Liverpool goal.

Origi again providing the danger for Liverpool as he looks for Salah and forces Krul into action in the Norwich goal  

Liverpool press again with Salah just failing to latch on to a Wijnaldum cross ball.

Excellent from Norwich as they cut through the Liverpool defence and the ball again falls to Stiepermann who once again is wasteful blazing over. 

Worst possible start for the Canaries

Classic frenetic pace to the start of the game as both German coaches patrol their technical area.

Poor delivery from Alisson as the ball works its way to Stiepermann  but the german skies the ball over the bar.  

First corner of the night goes to Liverpool with the home side enjoying the brighter start.

The trademark Klopp smile is still there!

This will be the meeting between Liverpool and Norwich since a nine-goal thriller at Carrow Road in January 2016, which the Reds prevailed 5-4. Sébastien Bassong had scored an equaliser to make it 4-4 in the 92nd minute, before Adam Lallana netted the winner in the 95th minute.

Norwich's motto ahead of the game tonight... Ignore the noise and be brave ! 

Norwich highly fancied by many to make a direct return to the Championship with Liverpool second favourites to claim the Premier League crown (behind Manchester City).
