Late Higuain strike seals Derby d'Italia win for Juventus

Juventus' Argentinian forward Gonzalo Higuain

Internazionale-Juventus: Serie A

Argentine substitute Gonzalo Higuain was the hero for Juventus supporters as the striker bagged a late winner to propel Sarri's side back to the Serie A summit.

A blistering first 45 minutes saw Dybala fire the visitors into an early lead before Lautaro Martinez equalised for Inter from the spot in the 18th minute.

The pace dropped in the second period and just when it appeared that both sides would settle for a share of the spoils, up stepped Higuain to latch on to a Bentancur assist to rifle past Handanovic to break Inter hearts and put Juve back in charge in Serie A.

The second half certainly lacked the fizz of the first half as tiredness kicked in but Conte's Inter lose their 100% record.

Higuain the man who helps the Turin side back to the top of the Serie A table.

That's it, the final whistle sounds at San Siro and Juve claim the Derby D'Italia with a 1-2 win.

Card for Skriniar for a late challenge on Cristiano.

Inter incapable of getting the ball into the danger zone as Asamoah is caught. Juve the clinical side tonight and Inter paying the price for sitting back in the first half after Martinez's equaliser.

We'll have 4 minutes of time added on.

Nicolo Barella carded for a dive

The corner comes to nothing as Juve launch a counter. Into added time we go. On the balance of play it would be fair to say Inter deserve a draw.

89

Last minute corner for Inter.

Vecino carded for a shove

87

Inter probing now looking for an equaliser and to maintain their unbeaten record.

Inter go close as Brozovic almost slides the ball past Szczesny

Can carded for a trip on Bastoni

Cristiano, Pjanic and Betancur combine to feed the Argentine who rifles past Handanovic

Higuain fires Juve ahead

Martinez subbed with Politano his replacement.

76

The Lukaku and Martinez strike pairing for Inter do look formidable with each player offering something different in attack.

75

Into the last 15' we go. Can any side nick the winner or will they both settle for the point as the clock ticks down?

73

Great build-up play again from Lukaku as the ball drops to Vecino and the sub rifles it high and wide.

Can on for Dybala as Sarri rolls his last dice.

Ronaldo strikes but the ball is parried by Handanovic.

69

Vecino strikes and the ball is deflected off De Ligt's back with Szczesny rooted to the spot. How the dynamic of this game has swung with the men in black & blue now in charge.

68

Inter now looking the stronger of the sides with Juve appearing to tire

66

Lukaku goes to ground in the Juve box as the fans appeal for a spot kick. Ref Rocchi waves play on and it would appear to be the correct call.

65

Masrtinez just fails to find an extra step of space to launch a right footed effort as we finally see a positive response from Conte's men.

Inter finally mount an attack on the Juve goal as Lukaku breaks. The ball falls to Asamoah who overhits his cross.

Juve change as Khedira is subbed for Bentancur. Higuain comes on for the injured Bernardeschi

Szczesny has been a virtual spectator for the past 20-25' of the game.

A shift in possession from the first 15 with Juve now dominating possession.

Higuain and Can warm up on the touchline as Federico Bernardeschi returns to the action.

Federico Bernardeschi takes a knock and Inter sportingly hit the ball out of play so the Juve player can receive attention.

56

Dybala breaks into the Inter area and attempts to dink the ball over Handanovic who spreads himself well. A Juve second goal looming closer one feels. Inter have offered little or nothing after a very composed first 15'.

Godin off for Inter with Bastoni his replacement.

53

A long range missile is unleashed by Cristiano but the ball is hit well wide.

51

Both teams struggling to impose themselves on proceedings with over-hit, mis-directed and poor judgement the common theme in the opening minutes of the second period.

Bernardeschi strikes from the edge of the area but the ball is easy for Handanovic who gathers with ease.

Both teams do come into the game after a testing week of Champions League action with Juve away in Leverkusesn and Inter in the Catalan capital

A touch of imprecision from both sides in the early minutes of the second half with passes miss-hit and wayward.

The second 45' is go !

All set as Gianluca Rocchi sounds his whistle to get us underway

The teams take to the pitch at San Siro. Sarri will be the happier of the managers at the interval with his side enjoying the ascendancy as the game wore on.

A roller-coaster of a game. Inter on top for the first 15-20 as Juve score early on. After drawing level, Conte's men allowed Juve to dominate the action and it's the side from Turin who end the half the stronger outfit.

A fracas on the San Siro pitch as Dybala felt he was fouled just before the interval after being pulled by Godin.

No, chalk that again. The whistle was for a drop ball after the ball struck the official and now the whistle does go for the interval.

Half time at San Siro as Gianluca Rocchi  calls time on the action.

Juventus ending the half by far the stronger side with Inter being forced to defend deep and play inside their own half.

We'll have 3' of time added on.

Into the final minute we go. A game where you can't take an eye off the action with incident coming thick and fast.

44

Will both sides be able to maintain this rhtyhm and intensirty for the full 90'?

VAR indeed ruled out the goal for an offside with Dybala the offender.

A major let-off there for Inter who have let Juve dominate the recnet action.

Hang on.... chalk that out.... offside.... no goal.

Gooooool. Juve go ahead .... it was coming !

Cristiano almost makes it 2 for Juve driving a right footed effort close to Handanovic who tips the ball away.

39

Since the Inter goal, Juventus have grown into the game, certainly the side in ascendancy and denying Inter the chance to play.

Inter over play the ball at te back and concede a corner, clear to see that Conte has installed a no hacking into Row Z policy for the defence

35

Juve bossing proceedings for the past 5' with all the action in the Inter half.

CR7 once again shapes to shoot.... The Portugal international drives the ball at the Inter defenders and the move breaks down.

The Juve free is floated into the Inter box and the Bianconeri win another free this time on the edge of the area as Godin fouls Alex Sandro,

Sensi off (muscular problems) with Vecino his replacement.

33

Juve free on the left hand flank

Cuadrado taken out Skriniar who is luck to escape with no card

30

30' gone here at San Siro and it's been an excellent game with both teams at the top of their game and brimming with confidence.

28

Great work from Lukaku again, feeding Martnez who unleashes an excellent right footed shot that forces Szczesny to save at full stretch.

Great link-up play between Martinez and Lukaku with the Argentine's shot striking a black and white shirt with the move breaking down following an offside. Inter looking sharp going forward.

Both teams really going for it here.... great spectacle so far at San Siro.

Inter awarded a spot kick after a handball from De Ligt

Barella has a long range effort but his hit lacks precision and drifts wide. Better now from Inter.

Alex Sandro (Juve) first name in the book tonight.

Bright start from the home side as Alex Sandro concedes an early corner.

What are we predicting this evening ? Personally I fancy a 1-1 draw. Speaking to a Juve supporting friend this morning he was far from optimistic of his sides hopes tonight....

Off we go at San Siro.... the Derby D'Italia is underway

The minute's silence observed for the passing of Sassuolo owner Giorgio Squinzi who died this week.

Weather

Ideal night for football in Milan this evening with a current temp of 17C. Rain possible during the evening though.

Some thoughts from Serie A specalist David Amoyal.

The last three corresponding fixtures between Inter and Juve at San Siro have seen one win a piece with Inter winning 2-1 in 2016. Juve claimed a 2-3 in 2017 with last season's game ending in a 1-1 draw.
