Emilio Butragueño: "Bale was magnificent"
Real Madrid's Director of Institutional Relations Emilio Butragueño praised the team and Gareth Bale for Saturday's win over Real Sociedad.
Real Madrid's Director of Institutional Relations Emilio Butragueño gave a positive assesment of the team's win over Real Sociedad and singled out Gareth Bale for the way he handled a hostile crowd in his first game following the Wales flag incident.
Madrid's performance: “In general, the team put in a great game. We were up against a top side, a great opponent. The team was solid and played with maturity, unity and solidarity. We wer able to win and generate positives signs”.
Strong performance against a great Real Sociedad side
Madrid's best game: “It was a great game, no doubt about that. The players showed solidarity when they didn't have the ball and were effective when they did. And we are all very happy. The fans went home happy and the team, in the last few games, has been playing to a high level”.
The best part: “The way the team gelled - they played as a team against a very difficult rival, an opponent who technically have players with great quality. The team showed carachter and deserved to win. We can feel very satisfied with how it all turned out”.
Tuesday's game PSG: “We're in a good moment. This team has a lot of potential. And the general feeling is very positive. We've got to continue along these lines and stay united. Zizou has several players for every position”.
Bale has a lot of qualities to give Real Madrid
It's going to be a struggle for Bale every time he plays at the Bernabéu: “He put in 30 magnificent minutes. He's a player with carachteristics which help us a great deal, he looks to create space, he got a great shot, scores goals. He was magnificent. And as Zizou said, he is very important for us. Today he showed that. We have some big challenges ahead and he is going to help us”.
Fans whistling Bale: “Whenever a player steps out onto the Bernabéu pitch wearing the Madrid shirt, we have to support them. Over the course of history, Madrid has overcome great difficulties all because of unity and we have to try to maintain that. We are going to face some very tough teams and if we are all united, then that will make us stronger”.
Ødegaard: “We are very pleased with how he is progressing. He is developing and enjoyed a mgnificent season and we hope he continues to grow as a player. We're delighted for him. He needs to keep maturing, he has shown great mental strength and that is a very positive sign”.
