So many chances for City. Sterling clips one to the back post for Mahrez and he hits it on the bounce. De Gea saves.
Rashford slots home. De Bruyne lays it back to Rodrigo and it's short. Greenwood plays it to Rashford and he slots it home. Really nice finish from United captain.
Mahrez with a lovely step-over and strikes but De Gea is equal to it. City take it again and bring it forward.
Walker crosses and Jones blocks and clears it. City coming good again now after United's spell of pressure.
Rodrigo gets booked for a tactical foul on Pereira. He takes down the Brazilian as he races forward on the break.
Sterling wants a penalty after a block De Bruyne shot bounces to him kindly. But the referee says he pulled Jones' arm. Debatable but United could do with a little luck.
Ball lofted into the box and Rashford is muscled out of it. United applying some pressure now but City happy to soak it up.
James chases down a loses ball and drives his shoulder into Otamendi's back when he doesn't get there. Lucky to get away without a booking.
Daniel James leave a leg in late on Otamendi. Guardiola really doesn't need another injury. James gets a talking to and Otamendi looks okay.

De Bruyne feeds Sterling now and he rolls the ball on his foot before shooting. It's blocked.

One minute of added time and United are screaming out for the whistle.
Mahrez with a perfect pass for Sterling and he misses the ball. It bounces off one foot and onto the other. This could be 10-0 the way things are going.
Another cross and it's missed by Sterling.
Silva shot saved! De Gea with a wonderful save after Sterling plays him through in tight quarters. This is turning into a massacre.
Greenwood tries his luck now for United. Rashford with a tasty flick but Greenwood's effort is a mile wide.
Mahrez makes it 0-2. Mendy hoofs it into the air, it's headed down to Silva and he feeds Mahrez, who rounds De Gea and slots home.
Ball delivered across and it fizzes dangerous across the area. City get it away. United improving now.
Corner now for United. That gets the fans going. 15 minutes remain in the half. Fred has to retake it as the ball is blown away from where it should. It's windy out there.
Lingard tries a pass to Rashford and it's cut out. United getting frustrated in attack.

GOAL! GOAL! GOAL! Bernardo Silva curls one into the top corner. He gets it off Walker and both buries it and curls it into the top corner at the same time. De Gea had no chance.
Rashford loses out in a tackle and grabs his lower back. He looks okay to continue though as City regain possession. Game is settling down now.
Both sides with plenty of action but no clear chances yet. United the latest to pry.
De Bruyne puts Jones under pressure but he manages to get it back to De Gea.
End to end stuff. Ball over the top is headed down by Greenwood and Rashford latches onto it. Out for a corner for United.
Danger from City as Sterling gets it in the penalty area but loses it under his feet.
Long ball over the top for Sterling to chase. He does and catches up with it too. But Fred gets it back for United and feeds Rashford. Good chance as Rashford rounds a defender and drives it across goal. Rashford looks like he's in the mood.

City with the livelier start at Old Trafford. De Gea gets a touch of the ball and they play it around the back now.

Some early pressure from United and City nearly cough it up. They manage to kepe it and work it out from the back though.
We are underway for the first half of the Carabao Cup semi-final between Manchester United and Manchester City.

City have lost control of the title race with Liverpool and Leicester ahead of them by 14 and 1 point respectively. Pep might be into his last year at the club but he still has a chance to win the Carabao Cup, the FA Cup and the Champions League. He's obviously keen to win this one to and exact revenage for the December loss given the team he has picked.
United beat City 2-1 in the most recent Manchester derby. Rashford and Martial scored in that game but the latter is on the bench tonight. After United's 2-0 loss to Arsenal recently, they could do with another win against a big team to get the good vibes flowing again. They had back to back wins over Spurs and City back at the start of December and do tend to show up in big games.
Solskjaer makes Rashford captain ahead of De Gea for the game tonight.
Pep Guardiola says Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs more time to make the team he wants with Manchester United.
