Official: Odriozola signs on loan for Bayern Munich
Both Real Madrid and the Bundesliga giants have confirmed the agreement for the rest of this season with the player not part of Zidane's immediate plans.
It is now official. After the news that Real Madrid's Álvaro Odriozola was nearing a move to Bayern Munich, on Wednesday morning both clubs confirmed that the deal had been agreed.
Odriozola moves to Bayern
The right back will be part of the Bavarian club on loan until the end of this season, provisionally returning to Los Blancos on 30 June 2020.
Bayern wrote on their website:
"FC Bayern Munich have signed Álvaro Odriozola on loan from Spanish record champions Real Madrid until the end of this season. After passing a medical, the 24-year-old right back has signed his contract at Säbener Straße and will begin training with Bayern today.
“Following internal discussions, we agreed to follow the wishes of head coach Hansi Flick in strengthening the defence and decided to go for Álvaro Odriozola. We are delighted about the signing and thank Real Madrid for the friendly and cooperative talks,” said Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
Sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić said: “We are convinced Alvaro Odriozola will help our team with his qualities. I am very happy we’ve found a full-back like him.”
Odriozola joined Madrid in the summer of 2018 from his hometown club Real Sociedad and won the FIFA Club World Cup with 'Los Blancos' in his first season. He has made four appearances for the Spanish national team and scored one goal."
Odriozola had been left out of the Real Madrid squad for their Copa del Rey match against Salamanca.
