Roger Martinez angers America’s boss
Martinez talked about his future when the transfer window was still open and Miguel Herrera said this was not well received by America’s boss.
this point of the Clausura 2020 it is clear that the situation between Roger Martinez and Club America will not change. Miguel Herrera has been instructed by America’s boss, Emilio Azcarraga, that he can’t use the Colombian this semester, even though he is still training with the team.
Club America has played seven games so far in this tournament and just advanced this week to the quarter-finals of the Concacaf Champions League. Martinez has not played a single game and he hasn’t been on the bench either. During an interview with ESPN Miguel Herrera explained that the declarations Martinez gave in January, talking about his future when the transfer window was open, made Azcarraga furious.
“At this point everyone is aware of the situation with Roger Martinez. This has nothing to do with me or with the general managers because the order came from the owner Emilio Azcarraga. We have a lot of injured players and I would like to use Roger but I have to get the approval of my boss first,” Herrera said.
America’s head coach also confirmed that the Colombian has been training with the rest of the team and he is aware that he made a mistake.
“He is healthy but he still needs playing time to be at the same level as the rest of his teammates. I hope the situation gets resolved soon because he knows he made a mistake.
"If a team is interested in Martinez we will sit down and analyze the offer.”
