Cindy Parlow is the first female president in US Soccer Federation
After Carlos Cordeiro resigned from his position, former vice-president Cindy Parlow Cone was named as the new president of the federation amid pay dispute.
Carlos Cordeiro resigned as president of the U.S. Soccer Federation amid a pay dispute with United States Women’s National Team and after suggesting female players were inferior to men.
Former vice-president Cindy Parlow Cone will take over the job and after the announcement was made on Thursday night, she became the first female president in the history of the U.S. Soccer Federation. The news broke after Cordeiro released a statement on Twitter.
Who is Cindy Parlow?
Cindy Parlow Cone is a 41-year-old former professional soccer player and she played for the USWNT between 1995 and 2006. After her retirement she became a manager and in 2012 she got her first job as the boss of Portland Thorns, where she won the title in her debut season.
With Parlow taking on the job as president, the USWNT could reach an agreement with the federation to end their pay dispute.
