Years ago, dogs had simple names - Fido, Rover or Butch... That's not the case these days. Álvaro Arbeloa named his dog Ronaldo, Isco's is called Messi (his previous one was called Luis Figo Jr.), Santi Cazorla's pet pooch answers to the name of Zlatan while Alexis Sánchez has a couple of golden retrievers, one called Atom, in honour of Oliver Atom, the star of Yoichi Takahashi's Captain Tsubasa manga series. Now Marcos Llorente has baptised his pet dog with a football-themed name. He has named his dog after he stadium where he played the game of his career - Atlético's historic 2-3 comeback against Liverpool at Anfield in last month's Champions League Round of 16 return leg. Llorente, a late sub, ended as the unlikely hero of the night with two extra-time goals.

On Friday, we found out the name of his pet dog who has been following him all of the house during the coronavirus lockdown. His name? 'Anfield'. Llorente posted a photo of his hirsute pal on social media to note Day 22 of his self-isolation. His dog is pictured in relaxed pose, head resting on paws, and accompanied by the caption: "Anfield watching life go by...".

Llorente keeping in shape during quarantine

Marcos Llorente has been one of the more active Atleti players on social media during the break in competition for the coronavirus pandemic. The midfielder publishes a photo per day to chronicle life under lockdown. He's kept himself busy with weight training, workouts on his exercise bike and in the gym. Fitness has always been a priority for him and now he has finally found his place in Simeone's side. And with Anfield, he knows he'll never walk alone.
