Marco Fabián would like a return to Liga MX with Chivas

Marco Fabián made his professional debut as a footballer in 2007 with Chivas, then in 2014 he was loaned for two semesters to Cruz Azul and in 2015 he returned to Guadalajara. The 30-year-old left the Liga MX in 2016 to sign with Eintracht Frankfurt where he played for two years and then went off to Major League Soccer (MLS) to play for Philadelphia Union.

The constant injuries affected Fabián during his time in Philadelphia so after one year he had to continue his career with Al-Sadd in the Qatari football league. He signed a couple of months ago with the team managed by Xavi Hernández and so far the Mexican midfielder seems happy with his new life in Doha, but during an interview with TV Azteca he left the door open for a possible return to the Liga MX.

It would be an honor to return to Mexico and play with Chivas again, the team that gave me the opportunity to become a professional footballer. I spent the majority of my career in Guadalajara and is the only team I truly carry in my heart but this is football and you never know where it is going to take you in the future because I could play for any team in Mexico or in the world,” said Fabián.

How is Marco Fabián dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic in Qatar

During this interview Marco Fabián talked about how he is dealing with the coronavirus pandemic in Qatar, “we are isolated due to the Covid-19 pandemic and we have a 21 days mandatory quarantine so we have to stay at home. Here the virus affected us a little later than the rest of the world and every day there are new cases and they are just trying to deal with the pandemic.”

Motivated for the World Cup in Qatar 2022

Leaving aside the coronavirus situation, Marco Fabián wants to return to the Mexico national soccer team and be part of the 23-player roster that will be in the next World Cup in 2022, “you never know what can happen because the World Cup is two years away. If I am called by the coach then I would be playing my third World Cup and I try to stay positive. I am prepared for the different scenarios but I still have other goals I want to achieve.”

“Representing Mexico in such events is always something special for me but you never know what could happen. For now I try to focus in the present and not think a lot about the future. I am focused on working hard here and try to stay healthy so if needed I’ll be ready to play in the next World Cup.”
