Ivan Rakitic feels undervalued: "I'm not a sack of potatoes"
Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic said he wants to feel valued at the club while his future has yet to be decided. The Croatian's contract is due to expire in 2021.
Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic says he desn't want to be talked about as if he is just a throwaway product and asked for respect amid doubts over his future with the Spanish champions.
Rakitic, whose contract is due to expire at the end of next season, continues to be linked with a move away from Barcelona, having reportedly attracted interest from Juventus, Inter Milan, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain previously. The 32-year-old's future at Camp Nou is far from certain and the Croatia international addressed his situation.
Rakitic hoping to extend his contract
"I am not a sack of potatoes," Rakitic told Mundo Deportivo, with the full interview set to be published on Monday. "I will decide my future. I want to be where I am valued. If it is here, delighted, and if not, it will be where I decide."
Veteran star Rakitic joined Barça from Spanish rivals Sevilla in 2014. Since then, he has won four LaLiga titles and the Champions League among other pieces of silverware.
Prior to the coronavirus pandemic bringing LaLiga and major sporting competitions to a standstill, Rakitic had made 31 appearances across all competitions this season.
