President Donald Trump’s argument to reopen the public schools was that the coronavirus doesn’t target children so it was important for them to return to class before the end of the academic year.

The President might have to reconsider pushing governors to reopen public schools after New York has reported at least 85 cases of a mysterious syndrome in children that might be linked to Covid-19. Now the health experts in the Empire State are urging parents to pay close attention to the following symptoms because they could be deadly for their children.

“I would tell parents that if your child has any nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, pallor - the color of their face changing, the color of their lips and fingers - if they have any chest pains... they should call their doctor and they need to be evaluated,” said New York Health Commissioner and paediatric cardiologist Dr. Howard Zucker.

Dr. Zucker has named this illness paediatric multisystem inflammatory syndrome and most of the 85 cases mentioned above are under investigation but they involved toddlers and elementary age children. From those 85 cases 3 have died in New York and another two additional deaths are under investigation according to Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Sunday that 38 of the cases involve children in New York City. Children elsewhere in the U.S. have also been hospitalized with paediatric multi-system inflammatory syndrome., which has also been seen in Europe.
