When will my paper stimulus check arrive if I don't have a bank account?

Over 100 million claimants in America have been sent IRS Economic Impact Payments to help them cope with the financial effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Internal Revenue Service stated last week that eligible taxpayers have until noon Wednesday (13 May) to submit their direct deposit information via the agency’s “Get My Payment” tool to start the process mechanic for their payment and avoid having the money sent by mail as a check. Missing the set deadline will result in a paper check being delivered in late May or early June.

The IRS maintain that the check will be mailed to the latest address on file for each claimant. In the majority of cases, this is generally the address on the most recent tax return or as updated through the United States Postal Service (USPS).

Recipients of the paper stimulus check can then cash their check or it can be deposited via an existing bank account. Should the claimant not possess a bank account as it the case with more than 10 million Americans, a paper check will be despatched to the home address as per the IRS system information file.
