Asensio reveals what Zidane said on Real Madrid return
As Marco Asensio made his long-awaited return to action, his manager gave him some last minute advice as he stepped onto the pitch.
Marco Asensio has revealed what the words of Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane were as the forward made his return to first team action following injury 11 months before.
'Score a goal' orders Zidane
It was a sight that fans of Los Blancos and Spain - not to mention lovers of skillful players - had been longing to see. Asensio is seen by many as a key part of the future of the club and as he emerged off the bench to take his place in the team against Valencia, Zidane gave him some final words of advice.
At the time, nobody was sure what the gaffer had said - although Twitter allowed some people to share their guesses - but the player has now explained.
"He told me to go on from the right, and [laughing], score a goal."
A few moments later, Asensio had put Madrid two goals ahead, with his first touch. If only it was always that simple.
