"Barcelona-Napoli can be played at Camp Nou" - La Generalitat

In a letter sent to UEFA, the regional government's Public Health Secretary made it clear that health risks are low as the game will be played behind closed doors.

In a letter to UEFA, signed by Public Health Secretary Josep Maria Argimon, Catalunya regional government the Generalitat made it clear that the Barcelona-Napoli game can be played at Camp Nou seeing as there are no concerns regarding public safety as the tie will be played behind closed doors.

At the start of the letter, which Diario AS has seen, Argimon states that Barcelona is a "safe and responsible" city. The Health Secretary admitted that, "as in other parts of Europe", the Barcelona region has suffered fresh outbreaks of coronavirus, but thanks to an exhaustive system of testing, the situation is under control.

Barcelona is safe to host Champions League tie

The Generalitat added that they have implemented every possible measure to contain the spread of coronavirus and go on to add that they can guarantee the safety of those who live in Barcelona as well as those who visit the city. They explain that all of the measures outlined in UEFA's protocol will be met, including the safety of all of the 350 people which the tournament organisers permit to be inside the stadium on the day of the game.

The Generalitat signed off by clarifying that they will be at UEFA's disposal to discuss any further issues concerning the game and declared that the Department of Public Health is totally "committed" to the health of safety of the public in Barcelona.
