Samuel Eto'o is someone who has always spoke his mind on matters close to his heart. Right from the moment he arrived in Spanish football in the late 90s, he became one of the most recognised players in LaLiga and without doubt, one of the best players and goal scorers in Barça's history.

If anyone knows Leo Messi, it's Eto'o - for the Cameroonian, Messi "is almost like a son". Together, they won the Champions League in 2006 and 2009 - for several seasons, Eto'o and Messi shared happy times and not so happy moments at Camp Nou.

Messi IS Barcelona - Eto'o

In an interview with TyC Sports, Eto'o made it clear how he feels about the bleak situation surrounding his old club. "I love Messi like he was my own son, I want the best for him. Barcelona is Messi and I think if Messi decides to leave, we'll have to change the name of the club. We are lucky in that at Barcelona, we have the best player in the world and of all-time, we have to do everything possible to ensure he finishes his career at Barcelona," Eto'o explained.

As for the humiliating defeat to Bayern, the African said of the players: "I really suffered myself with that defeat, not just for Leo, but for all of the lads. Someone who has never played the game will find it hard to understand, but these things exist in football - and in life too. Anyone can suffer a fall but you have to get up again and that is the most difficult part. The players, the bosses, the fans... I hope that we can lift ourselves up from this and begin to dream again for next season".
