Election USA 2020: how to register to vote by mail and how to request the absentee ballot
There is less than three months until the 2020 United States presidential elections and due to the coronavirus pandemic there are different ways to vote.
Starting from Thursday 20 August, the American public can request to have their ballot mailed for the 3 November general elections, with roughly 24 million people having the opportunity to vote for the first time.
According to the Pew Research Center, one in 10 voters in the 2020 presidential election will be part of Generation Z - first-time voters in a major election. Due to the coronavirus pandemic it is important for people to register to vote sooner rather than later.
Absentee ballot
Absentee voting is conducted by mail-in ballot before Election Day. All states will mail a ballot to voters if certain conditions are met. The voter may return the ballot in person or by mail.
In most states, where voting by mail isn’t universal, absentee voting is available for any reason due to the coronavirus pandemic. The no-excuse absentee voting is available in major swing states like Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
